Include Tempe Town Lake Oktoberfest In Your Arizona Vacation

by weRentAZ | 3rd September, 2015

Tempe OktoberfestMark you calendars! October is a fantastic time to visit Arizona.  The worst of the summer heat is gone, and the night is pleasantly cool without getting too cold.  It’s a perfect time of year to enjoy the scenery and wonder of the desert…  and the perfect time to enjoy everybody’s favorite German holiday!

There are Oktoberfest festivals all over Arizona, but as far as we’re concerned, the annual event at the beautiful Tempe Town Lake tops ’em all.  Plus, admission is totally free for the whole family.

Four Reasons To Add Tempe Oktoberfest To Your Arizona Vacation

1 – Plenty of fun for the kids

A lot of Oktoberfest celebrations focus on adults, but the Tempe celebration makes sure there’s a lot for the little ones as well.  Their Kinderfest includes a crafts show as well as a fun and educational “Passport” game where they get stamps as they visit the booths.

Plus, the festival includes a full carnival, including merry-go-round, roller coasters, and Ferris wheel.

2 – Nonstop music

The three day celebration runs throughout October 9, 10, and 11, with live music throughout.  Every day features a full range of great local acts, including rock, country, jazz, and blues performances.  Plus, of course, in the evening you’ll be treated to the best polkas anywhere in Arizona.

3 – Great food and beers

You’ll have dozens of options in food, with all the traditional German fare you could want, alongside American and other world cuisines.  The meats come courtesy of our own Von Hanson meats, spiced and cured based on real old-world recipes.  Plus, there are beer gardens throughout the event, including our famous “Beers of the World” tent.

And yes, there are courtesy rides available if you happen to overindulge.

4 – The Frank Kush Footraces

You certainly don’t want to come back from your Arizona vacation larger than you started, which is why Tempe’s Oktoberfest includes a series of footraces on October 10, suitable for a full range of runners.  There’s a 10K, a 5K, and also a one-mile fun run.

All participants get a free shirt and beer mug, and all the proceeds go to local children’s charities.  It’s a win-win for everyone.
