Are you looking for things to do in Phoenix during your visit? The greater Phoenix metro area is a popular destination for tourists at all times of the year, because it’s full of amazing attractions and experiences you just can’t get anywhere else.
In fact, one of our favorite things to do in Phoenix is also one of the most relaxing experiences you can have in the area: the awesome Butterfly Wonderland nature conservatory and rain forest preserve.
Butterfly Wonderland: An Oasis In The Desert
If you’re going to someplace called Butterfly Wonderland, you’re probably expecting plenty of flutter-bys, and this Wonderland provides! It’s the largest butterfly conservatory in the US, entirely enclosed in a recreated rain forest environment. The cool air is a perfect escape from the summer heat.
The central conservatory is 10,000 square feet of natural beauty, featuring thousands of specimens that represent hundreds of species. There’s also an entire chrysalis room and -if you’re lucky- you could even be treated to the spectacle of a newborn butterfly emerging from the shell of its former self.
You also get to experience a 3D film specifically about the lives of butterflies which is nearly as spectacular as the real thing!
However, that’s not the only thing to do at the Butterfly Wonderland. It’s part of a complex of indoor nature preserves that can create a full day’s worth of entertainment!
Besides the butterflies, they also have full attractions devoted to ant colonies, bee hives, and an Amazon Rainforest aquarium.
Right alongside the Butterfly Wonderland is the Odysea Mirror Maze, an exciting challenge for adventurers of all ages. They’ve taken the classic mirror maze concept and updated it for the new millennium with a huge variety of visual effects and laser-based trickery. There’s even a dodge-the-lasers challenge for the physically fit.
And while it’s not open yet, we’re really looking forward to the upcoming Odysea Aquarium, which promises to be the best aquarium in the entire Phoenix area. When it opens in early 2016, it’s going to be a huge attraction for everyone visiting Arizona.
There’s More To Do In Phoenix!
Whether you’re only on vacation for a short stay, or you’re renting a fully-furnished home while you’re working in town, there’s always something amazing you could be doing.
