Beat The Heat With Great Phoenix-Area Water Parks!

by weRentAZ | 25th June, 2015

Phoenix waterparkThere are so many things to do in Phoenix, AZ, and the surrounding areas that we could never list them all.  But as spring fades into summer, the afternoon highs will start creeping up, and that means it’s time to find ways to stay cool.  The many great water parks in the area are definitely among the best things to do in Phoenix, whether you’re just visiting or already living here.

Plus, with the kids out of school, water parks make an excellent attraction that the whole family can enjoy – especially during the desert summer.

These are a few of our local favorites…

Things To Do In Phoenix:  The Terrific Water Parks

1 – Big Surf

The Big Surf Waterpark over in Tempe isn’t just one of Arizona’s premiere attractions – it was the first major waterpark in America, built in 1969.  It’s the first and still one of the best, featuring a wave pool that’s still the third-largest in the world.

It’s also seen plenty of rock & roll legends play concerts there, including the Beach Boys, Elton John, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chicago, and Pink Floyd!

2 – Wet n’ Wild Phoenix

Wet n’ Wild is the premiere name in waterparks around the country, and the Phoenix Wet n’ Wild is among the best.  With more than 30 attractions, featuring the latest innovations in water park thrills.

Check out the new Maximum Velocity – it’s both a waterslide and a competitive race between riders on parallel tracks.  It’s amazing, and the first of its kind.

3 – The Cove

Want to get out of the sun entirely?  Set course for The Cove!  Run by the city of Sierra Vista, it’s an excellent alternative to the more popular (and populated) theme parks.  The centerpiece is a massive 11,347sq indoor pool, with movable bulkheads that change it from a wave pool to  competitive pool throughout the day.  The pair of water slides that snake in and out of the building are another great feature.

Plus, it’s inexpensive – $5 for adults, and less for seniors and children.
